Site Features
The castle is an open-air, gravel-floor structure with 1200 square feet of space ideal for parties or as a unique element of ambiance for any activity. There are a few electrical outlets, but solar chargers are strongly recommended for charging your electrical devices.
Vingolf Hall:
Vingolf Hall is the newest addition to the Elchenburg site. The 3000 square foot barn has plenty of room for all sorts of activities. Please click here for more information.
Picnic Shelter:
The picnic shelter is a 30-foot by 40-foot covered structure with a few long tables and electrical outlets, great for a large family potluck or other gathering.
A large, peaceful pond is perfect for an afternoon of relaxation under the large oak trees. It is stocked with several species of fish like crappie, bass, bream and catfish. It also is host to other local aquatic creatures like turtles, bullfrogs and leeches, therefore swimming is not allowed.
A 100-year-old farmhouse on the property is nestled next to the pond. It has been retro-fitted to bring you the creature comforts of running water, flush toilets, and hot showers with seperate ladies' and gentlemen's areas. The farmhouse also provides a small but furnished kitchen with full-sized appliances and a double sink.
There are two wells on the site, one near the castle and one near the Farmhouse. There is a spigot at each well. Additionally, there are four spigots running from the castle-side well and ending at the ravine. Please do not leave hoses attached when not in use.
There are hot showers in the farmhouse and at the ravine, but you are welcome to set up portable showers in your camp. Please fill in any holes that you dig.
Fires and Firewood:
Open fires are welcome. Please fill in any holes that you dig. You are welcome to bring your own firewood or glean what you can from the woods, but cutting trees is not permitted. Do not leave fires unattended. You may dispose of extinguished coals/unused firewood at the treeline so it doesn't get caught in our lawnmower, but make sure coals are cold to the touch. Please don't burn down our site!
Please place your trash in designated receptacles or take it with you when you leave. Please do not leave your trash on the roadside.
You may park at your campsite to load and unload. Do not block roadways. If anyone (especially a staff member) asks you to move your vehicle, please do so immediately and courteously.
